Coverage

What MenaDB holds today, country by country and sector by sector. These are counts of records we have published, not counts of what exists.

Published organisations

10,603 published organisations across 24 countries and 10 sectors. A zero means we hold no published record there yet, not that nothing exists.

Shading follows the count: darker means more records. The number in each cell is the figure; the shading only helps the eye.

How to read this

Every number is a count of records we hold and have published. It is not a count of what exists. We do not yet have an authoritative total to measure against, so we show counts, not percentages.

A country can look thin for reasons that have little to do with how much is there. Open sources are thin for some countries, and official registers that would fill the gaps are not loaded yet. A small number tells you about our sources, not about the country.

Where the records come from today: Wikidata, through classes of organisation in each sector, for the 24 countries in scope; and the World Bank, for country statistics shown on country pages. Universities, research institutes, hospitals and ministries are harvested from Wikidata but are listed only once approved. Each record states its own source and when we checked it; see About for what the tiers mean and What we list for scope.

What we do not hold yet: official company and licence registers, regulator lists loaded from the regulator itself, and most local-language sources. Those are why a country can be thin.
